Fitmass Hack 1 – Eat the Real Thing

Fitmass Hack 1

Eat the Real Thing

How many times have you hear a fitness buff or trainer sell you on a low cal, high protein, packed with veggie version of whatever brownie, cookie, or whatever favorite dessert you love.

Worse, “Just skip the cookie, girl, it’s going to undo all the hard work you just did. Have a protein shake instead.”

I love a good protein shake, but I also love a good cookie.

Here’s the hack: Whenever possible eat the real version of whatever it is you’re eating.

No fake cookies

No low fat blah blah

No sugar free cardboard.

Real cookies.

Doesn’t sound like much of a hack yet does it?

It will make more sense in a second.

The sugar/fat/diet free or diet versions of food aren’t real food. They are chemical storms of junk that are designed to kill you. I don’t say this to be cute – diet foods don’t go in my mouth, and I’m suggesting that you don’t eat them either for two main reasons.

  1. They don’t satisfy.

One of my favorite experiences is having a single diet cookie and thinking to myself “wow! That was incredible. I don’t need to have another single bite of anything.”

    Wait… no. That doesn’t happen

Diet foods don’t feed your soul or your appetite. You’ll end up eating more.

  2. Your brain doesn’t like it.

At the end of the holidays you’re going to have one of 2 things happen. You’ll say wow, I enjoyed some of my favorite foods with some of my closest family and I feel great because I didn’t over do it.

OR you’ll think, damnit, I didn’t get to eat aunt Sue’s famous pecan double caramel upside down brownie fudge cake – so instead I’m going to spend the next 3 months regretting it and eating like crap.

At the end of the Holidays you should have had some of your favorite sweets, enjoyed them, and been able to move on to the rest of your life.

My last word on this is make sure you eat, and enjoy, the real version of whatever you’re having, just don’t go crazy and eat them every day for the next 21 days.
