The Busy Mom’s Guide to Creating your Own Meal Plans – Part 1

Nutrition Meal plans. Dinner time. Do those phrases create stress and frustration for you? I know for most moms it does… …it does for me at times, too! All the knowledge in the world doesn’t help if it can’t be applied to YOU, in your life, without losing your mind, and being able to sustain it; to be excited about the change and believing that you can do it long-term. At Momentum Fitness, Concord’s Gym, we focus on meeting you where you are when it comes to nutrition. Our goal is to get you to your goal while being able to live lifestyle without being stressed out all the time. When you think about food and it creates stress = not a good place! It doesn’t put you into a position of certainty and power. It creates decisions from a place of stress, frustration, scarcity, anxiety….and that never creates good outcomes.

There is no happiness in an unhappy journey

That quote above is something that has changed the way we do everything at Momentum When you live life the RIGHT way it becomes your new normal – you become the person that leads the lifestyle instead of eating in a way that stresses you out all the time and looking for anyway to get off it. When you do it the WRONG way, and get overwhelmed, it creates a program in your mind that makes you believe getting lean and looking the way you want to look – feeling the way you want to feel – is a stressful struggle that sucks all the life out of you NOT true! The wrong way happens when you try and do too much too fast – take on more than you can handle. The key is knowing the strategies that make fitting your meal plan and your life together easy, and give you the confidences about the steps you’re taking. We are going to show you the secrets the most successful moms use to get and stay lean, keep their family healthy, all without going crazy! No gimmicks and B.S. No crazy promises. No “cleanses” and “detoxes” that promise things that are unrealistic long-term (or even short term!) Do you have to change to get results? YES. Of course there will be changes that have to be made. Action has to be taken and work will need to be done. There is no escaping that. But why make it harder than it has to be?

Watch Part 1:

We broke the video up into 5 parts to keep them short and focused – we know momma’s ain’t got time for anything extra.

After watching the video you now know that you need a template to base your recipe decision on. Anna and I usually base our meals off of the following: 1. Stir fry 2. Crock Pot 3. Baked (Cassaroles, etc.) 4. Grilled Based on that template we can easily plan out our week and eat healthy without a lot of work. One of our favorite Stir Fry meals is the Precision Nutrition Thai Ground Beef, here’s the Recipe

Recipe #1 – Stir Fry – Thai Ground Beef

Ingredients 1 lb extra lean ground beef (96%) 1/3 head cabbage; shredded (about 3 cups) 1 carrot; sliced 1 medium green pepper; cut into 1 inch cubes 1 small onion; cut into 1 inch cubes 2 tbsp peanut sauce salt, pepper, and chili powder (to taste) Brown the Beef and onion Toss in the green peppers Cook for about 5 min Add in the cabbage Cook it for 5-10 minutes Season that bad boy with the peanut sauce, salt, pepper, and chili powder Enjoy!

Recipe #2 – Crockpot – Prok Shoulder Tacos

Ingredients 5 lb / 2.5 kg pork shoulder, skinless, bone-in (4lb/2kg without bone) (Note 3) 1 onion, coarsely chopped 1 jalapeno, seeded and ribs removed, chopped 2 tbsp salt 1 tsp black pepper 4 cloves garlic, minced 2 oranges, juice only

Rub 1 tbsp dried oregano 2 tsp ground cumin 1 tbsp olive oil

Rinse and dry the pork shoulder, rub in salt and pepper. Combine the rub ingredients then rub all over the pork. Place the pork in a slow cooker (fat up), top with the onion, jalapeño, minced garlic (don’t worry about spreading it) and squeeze over the juice of the orange. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 6 hours. The meat should be tender and falling off the bone. Remove from the slow cooker and let cool slightly. Then shred the pork using two forks. Serve in lettuce wraps.   Remember, if you create a change, just ONE change, that you weren’t doing before and stick to it, you’re improving your lifestyle nutrition. Take one thing away that is not serving you. Add something that will help you get results. If you’re committed and serious in finally changing where you; the way you look, feel and perform, then talking to one of our coaches in a strategy session may be the next step. Imagine being able to eat the foods you love with minor changes and getting the results you want. Not having to go on drastic diets that feel like you’re changing everything too fast and don’t even believe you can stick to. Have the success that you see others have without dreading the next meal because you’re just waiting to be done with the “diet.” Our coaches will have a conversation with you and find out where you are, where you want to be and the path and plan to take you there based on YOU and your lifestyle (not being forced into a cookie cutter once size fits all program).
